Differentiation with Technology

How Technology Will Be Used Within The Lesson Plan Technology will be integrated into each lesson with Olive, Aubrey and Ernest. Olive will complete a 30-minute Khan Academy session. During the session, Olive can view a video of the lesson if she does not understand (Khanacademy.org, n.d.). At the end of the lesson set, Olive will take a quiz on the lesson to assess unit understanding.   Aubrey will also participate in a 30-minute Khan Academy session. During this session, Aubrey will attempt to compete a unit on algebraic equations. The goal is for her to pass the unit quiz with 85% accuracy (Khanadacademy.org, n.d.).   Ernest will type his Personal Narrative rough draft on a Google Doc document. Ernest will be able to recognize when sentences are not complete, or if words are misspelled while typing on a Google Doc.   Technology Engagement Student engagement involves meaningful learning (Australian Christian College, 2024). There are three elements to stu...

Designing a Differentiated Lesson Plan

Instructional strategies to differentiate for and engage diverse students.   Differentiation can look different in every classroom. When planning for my sessions, I assess my student’s prior knowledge at the start of every session (Project Learning Tree, n.d.). Based on the assessment, I will review skills, or start a practice session.   In the case of Olive, I chose books that were at her instructional level that she can read aloud. The books I also chose were books that would be of interest based on prior conversations (Project Learning Tree, n.d.).   Ernest’s sessions required that he make personal connections to his learning in order to create a Personal Narrative (Project Learning Tree, n.d.).   Two students received differentiated instruction through the use of Khan Academy. I chose individualized sessions that meet the needs of each learner. Khan Academy allows the students to receive remedial lessons in the areas where additional instruction is...

Learning Styles Analysis

Image
Interconnection Research shows that students have preferences on how they learn best (Cherry, 2023). Knowing a student’s learning style may help them become interested and engaged in classroom learning (Cherry, 2023). It may also help students to develop new habits to help them with studying and self-help skills (Cherry, 2023).  Research suggests that if a student is engaged and interested to participate in learning, the greater the student learning and understanding will be.   While it is important for students to receive instruction incorporating their learning style, it is equally important that students receive instruction that incorporates each learning style. Students may benefit from learning in a variety of styles. Incorporating several learning styles in lessons may increase engagement, which ultimately increases the students learning and understanding.  All students would benefit from lessons that incorporate higher order thinking, reading, social and emo...

Education 551-Differentiating Instruction

June 12, 2024 1.  Kahoot Description: Kahoot is a free game-based learning platform (Kahoot.com, n.d.). Users can create multiple choice game questions (Kahoot.com, n.d.). The questions are viewed by students on the Kahoot App with a code (Kahoot.com, n.d.).  Ease of use: Kahoot is difficult to use (Kahoot.com, n.d.). When you first log-in, you are given several choices. You can watch a demo video, create a Kahoot or host a Kahoot (Kahoot.com, n.d.).  There is also a menu to the left, which offers choices such as a library, reports, groups and marketplace (Kahoot.com, n.d.).  There are no descriptions for these features, so you must click on each link to find out what they each do. I can see this taking quite a bit of time to create.  Practicality of incorporation: The practical use of Kahoot is evident. Kahoot is primarily used in the classroom for review purposes.  Kahoot is an exciting and engaging way for students to review previously taught mat...
